We do not have an explanation for the unusual color of such Zr-porphyrinogen complexes, however, it does not arise from any impurity, since it remains the same even after a number of extractions-crystallizations. For 2505 unique observed reflections [I > 2σ(I)] collected at T = 295 K on a Rigaku AFC6S diffractometer (6 < 2θ < 50°) the conventional R value is 0.026 (wR2 = 0.043 for the 4570 unique reflections having I > 0 used in the refinement).
