    • During the past few years, there have been several reports (49-51) on the further oxidation of 8-oxodG by type I or type II photooxidation to the guanosine oxidation products 1-(2-deoxyβ-D-erythro-pentofuranosyl)cyanuric acid, oxazolone, and 4-HO-8-oxodG. Since in the type I process 8-oxodG is oxidized by hydrogen abstraction, it is likely that tert-butoxyl radicals operate by a similar mechanism.
