    • The yield of the synthesis can be increased when some radical scavenger, like 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxy radical (4-hydroxy-TEMPO = PROSTAB™ 5198 of Ciba Specialty Chemicals), is added to the crude product before distillation to prevent polymerization. It is advisable to add also some stabilizer when the product has to be stored for longer periods of time.
