    • 1H NMR spectra of pHEMA 2 revealed that the chemical shift of proton A does not change as a consequence of chain transfer and can be considered representative of the total pyridine content in the polymer. The integration for E, attributed to the methylene protons adjacent to the disulfide only, is divided by two times the integration for A and multiplied by 100 to obtain the % end group.
