25. This is required by the definition of the Stokes' shift. The discussion of the spectral data suggests that the transitions responsible for the solid-state emission peaks and excitation shoulders are both spin forbidden. The relevant triplet states involved in the emission and absorption processes of the associating species are being investigated by a parallel theoretical study.
