Child Obes. 2016;12(2):119–25. This study examined the effects of passive smoke exposure (PSE) on adiposity, cognition, and sleep in overweight and obese children using an objective measure of PSE. Children with passive smoke exposure had greater overall and central adiposity than their non-exposed peers and PSE was also linked to poorer cognitive scores independent of adiposity. PSE was not related to sleep-disordered breathing, prediabetes, insulin resistance, or visceral fat.
