A small effect was found whereby those with the dissociative subtype showed a lesser decrease in PTSD severity. However, dissociative symptoms decreased markedly among those with the subtype, across both treatments.

A secondary analysis from a randomized controlled clinical trial. Behav Res Ther 57 (2014), 21–28 This secondary analysis of an RCT comparing narrative exposure therapy (NET) and treatment as usual (TaU) for PTSD examined the influence of dissociative symptoms on treatment response. Findings indicated that NET led to better treatment outcomes than TaU, and that dissociative symptoms did not moderate outcome for either treatment.
