    • All calculations were performed at ωB97X-D/6-31G(d)[Fe:cc-pVTZ] level of theory. Iron(ii) complex 7a, triethoxysilane (4a), and acetone (3o) were used as model substrates. See the ESI for full details The calculated structures show in fact partial opening of the NHSi rings indicating formal oxidative addition taking place on the silicon(ii) centre.
