    • While this manuscript was in review, gene inactivation experiments for the pctC (ptmA) and pctV (ptmT) genes were reported by Almabruk et al.: both genes are involved in pactamycin biosynthesis. The pctV (ptmT) gene-knockout mutant recovered pactamycin production by feeding with 3-ABA, thus giving genetic evidence that PctV (PtmT) is involved in 3-ABA formation in S. pactum.
