This cohort study investigated the different effects of complimentary feeding on the risk of later obesity. Whereas among breastfed infants the timing of solid food introduction was not associated with the odds of obesity, infants who were never breastfed or those who stopped breastfeeding before the age of 4 months, the introduction of solids before the age of 4 months was associated with a six-fold increase in the odds of obesity at 3 years
