    • The color of PEDOT was deep-blue in the neutral state. The film became transparent when anodically doped. The color change was derived from the formation of ionic states, namely, polarons (radical cations) and bipolarons (dications) in the polymer backbone. The cathodic reaction on the bipolar electrode is probably reduction of a trace of contaminating oxygen and/or water.
