An official American Thoracic Society workshop report: Obesity and asthma
-
This statement from the American Thoracic Society was based on combined consensus from experts in the fields of obesity and asthma and reviews the most up-to-date epidemiologic as well as mechanistic studies. Participants concluded that obesity is a major risk factor for asthma for all demographic groups studied, and that it likely represents a new phenotype of asthma.
