    • In more usual surfactants, which are almost cylindrically symmetric and tilted by relatively small angles (∼30° or less) from the normal, it is more usual to compare the cross-section of the molecule to the molecular area. Because of the more complex shape of the bent-core molecule, the cross-section not well-defined. Instead, the thickness is estimated assuming the film has a bulk density, and compared to the different molecular dimensions
