1. The Bay Area experiences a thermal inversion in June that reverses in August, bringing the signature fog to San Francisco in the summer. Silicon Valley experiences what we call a "Kuhnian Inversion. " Kuhn (1962) emphasized that scientific revolutions follow a similar pattern; long periods of relative stability are periodically ruptured by a major discontinuity. We characterize today's business environment as a "Kuhnian inversion", long periods of frenzied change, followed by brief, stable interludes.
