    • Discovery of a sexual cycle in the opportunistic fungal pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus
    • This report describes the teleomorph of the medically important fungus Aspergillus fumigatus, named Neosartorya fumigata. This species has a heterothallic breeding system in contrast to most species assigned to this section. The presence of a sexual cycle could provide a valuable tool for genetic analyses and will facilitate research into the genetic basis of pathogenicity and drug resistance in A. fumigatus
