    • General procedure (Method A): Alcohol 1 (1 mmol) and aldehyde 2 (1.5 mmol) were taken in a mixture of NSSA (150 mg) and EtOH (0.1 ml) in a round-bottom flask. The reaction was stirred vigorously at 80 °C. After the reaction was complete (monitored by TLC) the mixture was filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to leave a crude residue which was purified by silica gel column chromatography (EtOAc/hexane mixtures)
