    • Although 49 is cleanly formed during the Corey-Winter reaction, it is very sensitive to acidic conditions and difficult to isolate and store. Therefore for the subsequent RRM step, we normally used the crude 49 obtained by evaporation under vacuum of the Corey-Winter reaction mixture. Interestingly, remaining trimethyl phosphate and sulfur-containing contaminants do not interfere with the metathesis step.
