    • As it follows from the properties of leaky modes (Refs.), these forward modes are inherently improper, since they grow in the transverse direction away from the array axis. Although this would violate the radiation condition for infinite arrays, these eigenmodes indeed dominate the far-field pattern of finite arrays for small Im [β ̄].
