This is the first report in the two-part series. The authors provide a significant contribution to the literature by examining joint association of childhood adversities. Studies on experienced adversities generally tend to focus on specific types of experience that may lead to the overestimation of the importance of the individual adversity.

This is a cross-sectional community survey with a nationally representative sample examining retrospective reports of childhood adversities and the persistence of the DSM-IV disorders. This is the second report in the two-part series. The authors report that persistence in outcomes differed as a function of the types of the experienced adversities.
