    • Separation from the remaining magnesium turnings has to be performed as soon as the conversion is complete, otherwise decomposition of the organometallic reagent is observed. Also, the subsequent reaction with the electrophile should be performed directly after this separation to ensure good yields (see ESI) We were not able to obtain good yields of the corresponding zinc reagents starting from aliphatic ketones. In these cases decomposition of the organometallic reagent was observed
