Development of palliative •• care and legalisation of euthanasia: Antagonism or synergy?
-
In this study from Belgium, where euthanasia is legalized, the authors state that even under the condition of palliative care few professional stances were found that palliative care and legislation of euthanasia are antagonistic. They argue that euthanasia may be justified if it is requested by the patient in case of futile palliative treatment. For this type of treatment the term integral palliative care is proposed
