    • Note that a classical collision theory yields for dense plasmas too low and with further increasing density (or decreasing temperature) negative Coulomb logarithms which translates into too low or negative energy-transfer rates in the Landau-Spitzer theory. The consideration of hyperbolic orbits avoids the total break down of the theory for high densities (low temperatures), but it still underestimates the cross sections.
