Steroids were separated by thin layer chromatography and scanned by a scanning radiometer (System AR2000, Bioscan Inc., Washington, DC). Various concentrations of curcumin (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO) and its derivatives (synthesized as previously described) were used.

    • 6 Leydig cells were cultured for 24 h in DMEM:F12 with various concentrations of curcumin in the absence or presence of 1 ng/ml LH. T present in medium was measured by a tritium-based radioimmunoassay (RIA).
