    • The theoretical dependence of optical phase lag on voltage for various initial tilt angles is reported in ref 17b wherein the authors consider the bend effect and employ the MBBA parameters in their calculations. The prediction therein indicates, for 3° pretilt, an apparent threshold that is ∼8.5% lower than the true threshold; this would correspond to an underestimation in k33 by ∼17%.
