    • From the experimental arrangement for SRPES measurements, the steep slope of the I-V characteristic anodic from ocp and its dependence on surface states with densities far below those detectable in surface analysis measurements and the technique of jet-blowing the electrolyte droplet off the surface, results in a small difference in the experiments between AFM and SRPES. We have found, however (see remarks under 15) that the charge passed and the potential are both determining the surface topography; here, the almost identical charge and the very similar potential establish conditions which are as close as possible under the present experimentation
