-
Saiman L, Marshall BC, Mayer-Hamblett N, et al.: Azithromycin in patients with cystic fibrosis chronically infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa: a randomized controlled trial. JAMA 2003, 290:1749-1756. This randomized trial demonstrates the clinical benefit of azithromycin in children and adults with CF with chronic infection with P. aeruginosa. A large number of secondary end points were shown to be improved and were found to be well tolerated. Only nausea, diarrhea, and wheezing increased in azithromycin participants compared with placebo participants.
