    • Two alkane complexes have been characterized by single crystal x-ray diffraction. Evans et al. have reported the solid state structure of a heptane-iron porphyrin adduct in which heptane sits in a hydrophobic pocket of the "strapped" porphyrin Ligand. The heptane adduct is not sufficiently stable for NMR analysis (IS). Castro-Rodriguez et al. have reported solid state structures of U(III) cycloalkane adducts that are unstable in solution (19).
