    • Although, Zhangs et al. disclosed that cesium hydroxide acts as a catalyst for the reaction of diphenyl diselenide with alkynes, the alkynes were limited to phenyl-substituted alkynes and acetylene adjacent to alkoxymethyl groups. • On the reaction of ethyl 3-d-propiolate, ethyl 3-(phenylseleno)-2,3-d- acrylate was formed in 6% yield. From this result, it was suggested that ethyl 3-(phenylseleno)-2,3-d-acrylate was formed by the deprotonation of terminal alkyne with the vinyl anion.

    • Diphenyl diselenide (1.0mmol) was allowed to react with cesium fluoride (2mmol) in THF (2 mL) at 67 °C for 5 h under a nitrogen atmosphere, and benzyl bromide (5mmol) was added to the resulting solution to give benzyl phenyl selenide (2%).
