    • It might seem that the presence of edge states might give rise to an energy-independent contribution to the tunneling DoS at the point. This is not so however. The wave functions of edge states at low energies extend into the bulk to distances inversely proportional to the electron energy. As a result their contribution to the local DoS at the contact is also linear in ∈. It is analyzed in detail in Sec. 1
