The product ion peaks corresponding to loss of SO3- from parent ions that are observed in our MIKE experiments may correspond to loss of either an SO3- ion from the parent or for electron detachment followed by loss of neutral SO3. We anticipate that both processes occur: the fragment ions corresponding to electron detachment from the parent appear with such low intensity, implying that e-+SO3 loss is common. We also observe the SO3- ion as a product ion, suggesting that direct SO3- loss occurs. However, the kinetic energy release for formation of SO3- and the corresponding parent ion-SO3, fragment ion is low, 46] which indicates that this pair of anions are not formed in the same dynamical process
