Amide couplings under strictly identical conditions were conducted in parallel with the two separated regioisomers of carboxylic acids 21a and 21b. The amide products were identically the compounds 22a and 22b, in the same regioisomeric ratio, whatever the starting regioisomer was taken. This indicates an equilibration of the double bond position on an activated intermediate during the amide coupling.
