Owing to the fact that we were unable to find donor numbers in the literature for either benzotrifluoride or 1,2-difluorobenzene, a solvatochromism approach based on the solvent-dependence of the visible absorption band of [Cu(N,N,N′,N′-tertamethylethylenediamine)(ethylenediamine)]2, W. Linert, Y. Fukuda, A. Camard, Coord. Chem. Rev. 218 (2001) 113) was employed to provide these numbers. Since the [SO4]2- salt of this complex (Y. Fukuda, K. Sone, Bull. Chem. Soc. Japan 45 (1972) 465) is insoluble in CH2Cl2, its [B (C6 F5)4-]2 salt was prepared (Calc. for C56H24N4B2F40Cu: C, 42.09, H, 1.52, Found: C, 41.95, H, 1.43, by metathesis with K[B(C6F5)4, Since the optical bands of this salt subsequently measured in CH2Cl2, benzotrifluoride, and difluorobenzene
