The reactions were stopped by the addition of 100 μl of 100 mM EDTA (pH 7.25), extracted with n-hexane (3 × 3 ml) and vortexed with silica (1.5 g). The solvent was removed in vacuo and the concentrated samples were analysed by GC-MS as described.
