26 using LipofectAMINE 2000 reagent (Invitrogen Life Technologies, San Diego, CA). To monitor the transfection efficiency, a pRL-null plasmid (50 ng) encoding Renilla luciferase was included in all transfections. At 24 h post-transfection, cells were treated with flavanone derivatives (20 μg/mL). After 6-12 h, the levels of firefly and Renilla luciferase activity were measured sequentially from a single sample using the Dual-Glo Luciferase Assay System (Promega, Madison, WI) with a luminometer (Centro LB960; Berthold Technologies GmbH, Bad Wildbad, Germany). The level of a control without flavanone compounds was considered as 1 and the levels treated with the compounds were compared to the control.
