    • Abnormally large thermal vibrational parameters of the water molecules were observed at room temperature. Refinement of the X-ray data of 1 collected at 297 K indicated the presence of 2.5 water molecules (O1W has full site occupancy, O2W has 1/4 site occupancy) for each Cu(L1′) 22+ unit in complexes 1-3, which is much less than the value of 4.5 as determined by elemental analysis and thermogravimetric measurement of 2 and 3 Supplementary Information, Fig. S3, TGA analysis of complex 1 indicates a thermal-explosiveness at about 110 C°

    • Finely ground fresh samples were used for powder X-ray diffraction. Dehydrated samples were obtained by heating the powder at 100 °C under vacuum for 2 h. Powder patterns were recorded on a Bruker D8 Advance Powder X-ray diffractometer (Cu Kα, λ = 1.5418 Å) operating at 40 kV and 40 mA, with a graphite reflected beam monochromator and variable divergence slits.
