It can not be completely excluded at this stage that some emission lines with a measurable Pc originate from neutral excitons with an anisotropic exchange splitting energy δ1 of only a few microelectron volts. A measurable Pc can be obtained for neutral excitons if the beat period h/ δ1 between angular-momentum projections Jz =+1 and -1 is longer than the radiative lifetime τrad. We have measured τrad 400ps in this sample, so for a splitting smaller than h/ τrad 10μeV already a measurable Pc is expected. A detailed investigation of the electronic states will be published elsewhere.

Due to the low signal-to-noise ratio for the short signal integration time no useful data could be extracted when switching between linearly polarized and circularly polarized excitations. We were therefore unable to measure the relaxation time of the nuclear spins after going from circularly polarized to linearly polarized excitation.
