Hohlrieder M, Brimacombe J, von Goedecke A, Keller C. Postoperative nausea, vomiting, airway morbidity, and analgesic requirements are lower for the ProSeal laryngeal mask airway than the tracheal tube in females undergoing breast and gynaecological surgery. Br J Anaesth 2007; 99:576-580. The results of this study support the move to using the ProSeal laryngeal mask airway rather than endotracheal intubation in gynaecology and breast surgery. The results show a reduction in nausea, vomiting and airway trauma, which are important in ambulatory surgery.
