    • The color change/aggregation took less than 10 min after the addition of responsive analytes in the case of direct sensing (in unbuffered water), whereas it took about 30 min in water buffered at pH 7.0 (MOPS (3-(N-morpholino) propanesulfonic acid) buffer); see the Supporting Information, Figures S4-S6 for the time-dependent color changes. At lower (pH ≤ 6) or higher pH (≥ 8), the aggregation became much slower.
