    • Interestingly, only traces of the corresponding Heck product were detected if the used reaction conditions were applied in the reactions between 6-chloro-8-iodo-9-isopropylpurine and butyl acrylate or styrene. Optimization of the reaction conditions to achieve Heck reactions of 8-halopurines will thus require further study.
