The measurements were carried out using 320 nm as the excitation light for two, reasons. (1) There was no reliable primary standard conveniently available for quantum yield determination that could be excited at, 470 nm. (2) Since 470 nm is very close to the edge of the emission spectrum, excitation at 470 nm doesn't allow for collection and integration of the entire fluorescence emission spectrum, which is necessary for accurate determination of the quantum, yield. Hybrid compound Zn4a undergoes photoinduced cyclization during the determination of the quantum yield if 470 nm was used resulting in calculated values lower than the true, ones.
