He is currently associate professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Department of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA. Prior to joining Virginia Tech (VT, Dr. Priya was asst. professor at The University of Texas at Arlington UTA, His research interests include piezoelectric and ferroelectric devices, energy harvesting, ceramic processing, thin film heterostructures, physics of electronic materials

His research interests include piezoelectric and ferroelectric devices, energy harvesting, ceramic processing, thin film heterostructures, physics of electronic materials, magnetoelectrics, high power devices and micro electromechanical devices. He has authored 80 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and 4 patents. He is Secretary of Electronics Division, American Ceramic Society, and chair and founder of the Energy Harvesting Workshop series.
