Ulcerative colitis and autoimmunity induced by loss of myeloid alphav integrins
-
Using a Tie2-driven Cre-recombinase system these authors deleted αv integrins in the hemangioblasts and endothelium of mice and showed that this did not appear to affect angiogenesis. This work describes that the loss of αv integrins in the endothelium of adult mice is not sufficient to affect blood vessel morphology.

Integrin signaling is critical for pathological angiogenesis
-
Here the authors elegantly utilize mutant β3 integrin knockin mice, DiYF, where the tyrosine 747 and 459 motifs of the β3 subunit have been substituted with phenylanalines rendering an outside-in non-functioning mutation. These mice display severely inhibited tumor growth and angiogenesis indicating that these tyrosine motifs are positively involved in tumor angiogenesis.
