    • The Stuart et al.'s criterion for avalanche domination is the following [12, E2σ> U ph γ, where E is the laser electric field, σ=e2τ[i#m/m (1+ω 2τ[i#m2) is the ac electrical conductivity where τ[i#m -1 is the transport momentum scattering rate, U ph is the characteristic phonon energy, and γ is the rate at which electron energy is transferred to the lattice. By setting the parameters to standard values, i.e, γ=τ[i#m-1 =1014 s-1 and U ph ≃ 190 meV, avalanche becomes effective for electric fields higher than ∼5 GV/m, i.e, intensities of 4 TW/cm2.
