    • The (3S,5S)-relative configuration of compound 3, employing as starting material (2R,4R)-N,N-dibenzyl-1,2:4, 5-diepoxypentan-3-amine 1, is explained because the priority of the substituents (by application of the Cahn-Ingold-Prelog priority rules) have changed during the course of the reaction.
