    • When we define multipoles as tensor operators in the space of total angular momentum J on the basis of the LS coupling scheme, there appear multipoles with k ≥ 8 for the cases of J ≥ 4, i.e., for 2 ≤ n ≤ 4 and 8 ≤ n ≤ 12, where n is local f-electron number. If we need such higher-rank multipoles with k ≥ 8, it is necessary to consider many-body operators beyond the present one-body definition.
