    • In a companion set of experiments, we looked at H and D recoil ion signals using a Ne+ ion probe. However, because the Ne+ beam can cause noticeable sputtering of surface Ti, a He+ beam was used instead to monitor submonolayer amounts of Ti. Detecting H and D using He+ is difficult and was not done.
