Inequalities in health are not only associated with social economic differences, but also with psychiatric status even after adjustment for level of income. Results compared for healthcare systems with or without universal health coverage were found to be very similar. The authors hypothesize different explanatory factors for these discrepancies, for example problems in communication or in scheduling appointments.
