    • The signals a and b are both L-lactic acid-initiated polyester; a is the sodium adduct whereas b is a mix of adducts carrying either one potassium or two sodium ions. This was determined from MALDI-TOF MS spectra of samples treated with excessive amounts of sodium or potassium salts.
