    • Brief computational investigation (AM1) suggests that the conformer 17 is favored by 10 kcal/mol over the conformer 16. Semiempirical AM1 calculations were achieved on the HyperChem calculation package (Version 5.01; designed and distributed by Hypercube Inc.). Geometry optimizations were performed using a Polak-Ribiere conjugate gradient algorithm until a gradient of 0.05 kcal/mol was reached.
