    • Computational models allow us to exclude the insertion of the 5-hexyl group of 1b into β-CD cavity from narrow rim side (data not reported). Nonetheless, further calculations do not allow us to exclude the possible formation of a 2:1 β-CD-1b complex, which could be a reasonable transient intermediate for the steps B→D, E→D, and C→A.
